The Siberian is an ancient breed (with written records dating back to the 13th century).

They are native to Russia and come from the harsh conditions of the Siberian forests, country side and the towns.

The farmers and trades people were the first to take care of the cats; they were useful for keeping the vermin under control to look after their produce.

The Siberian cat is a natural breed. They are also known as the Aboriginal Cat of Russia.

The Siberian is a fairly new breed to arrive into Australia.

Marie Mahoney of Miakoschka Siberians was the one to introduce them to Australia in 2003.
